PNC PARK, Pittsburgh Pirates

PITTSBURGH — The start of Thursday’s game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and San Diego Padres at PNC Park has been delayed.

The start of the game has been pushed back to 1:20 ET.

The Pirates are currently monitoring the current weather conditions and air quality index as wildfires in Canada have created poor air quality in Pittsburgh.

“After collaborative discussions between Major League Baseball, the Major League Baseball Players Association, our team of expert medical providers at Allegheny Health Network, our players and staff, we have made the decision to move forward with our game today.  We will continue to closely monitor the air quality index levels around the ballpark and respond accordingly.,” the Pirates said.

The Pirates will look to complete the series sweep against the Padres after taking the first two games on Tuesday and Wednesday night.
