Pirates Postgame Show: Does This Offense Have Any Hope?

At least they got a hit. That’s the only positive Pirates fans can take from this double header in St. Louis. Mike Asti was joined by Joe Smeltzer to discuss where the offense has been and if there’s any hope it can return, which lineup configuration makes the most sense most of the time and if some recent solid pitching performances have actually served as a bright spot to an otherwise miserable stretch.
I try to be positive about the Pirates, but
with the lineup they provide with most
players at the Mendoza line ,I am
surprised they have as many wins
as they do. Of course, the priority
this year in my mind was not
the big league lineup, but that of the
minor league prospects.Well at this stage of the season, Ido not see any prospect with great minor league stats. If these youngsters cannot dominate at the minor league, how do you expect them to exell in the
majors.When the Pirates were moving
toward the wildcard years, there
we’re players like Marte and Polanco
coming up with great minor league
stats, plus Alvarez and a few others that
deserved promotion. From the comments I read from the local
writers they seem positive about
the prospects.which surprises me.How
do the rest of you feel about the
minor league prospects that were
supposed to be in the top tier among
major league franchses.
