Transaction Tracker FAQ
The Pittsburgh Pirates Transactions Tracker shows roster moves and player activity during the season. This can include players being acquired, traded, signed, recalled, optioned, released, designated for assignment, or selected to the MLB roster.
Acquired means the Pirates added a player from another team or organization. This can happen through a trade, waiver claim, cash deal, or another roster move.
Traded means the Pirates either sent a player to another team or received a player from another team. Trades can include MLB players, minor leaguers, cash considerations, or players to be named later.
Days to deadline shows how much time remains before the MLB trade deadline. This helps fans track how close the Pirates are to the final day for making major in-season trades.
Recall means the Pirates brought a player up from the minors to the MLB roster. Option means the Pirates sent a player from the MLB roster to the minors while keeping him in the organization. DFA means designated for assignment. The Pirates remove the player from the 40-man roster and must trade, release, or outright him within a set time. Released means the player is no longer part of the Pirates organization. Selected means the Pirates added a player’s contract to the MLB roster, often from the minor leagues.
