Pittsburgh Pirates-Nick Gonzales

The 2022 Arizona Fall League season has come to a close but not before Pittsburgh Pirates prospect Nick Gonzales could leave his mark one more time.

Gonzales went 4 for 5 with a double and a pair of RBIs in the Surprise Saguaros 8-2 victory over the Scottsdale Scorpions on Thursday.

The big game at the plate caps off a solid Fall League season for the 2020 first-round pick of the Pirates.

Gonzales finishes the regular season with a .279 batting average and an .841 OPS. He totaled four doubles, a triple, three home runs and 14 RBIs in 18 games playing back in his home state.

Gonzales wasn’t the only Pirates’ prospect who had a big hand in the win for the Saguaros.

First baseman Jacob Gonzalez finished the game 2 for 2 with a double and two RBIs. He also walked twice and scored a pair of runs in the victory.

Blake Sabol, who was behind the plate in this one, picked doubled as part of a two-hit performance, bumping up his batting average to .234.

On the pitching side of things, Pirates’ prospect Tahnaj Thomas tossed a scoreless fifth inning. He struck out a batter and walked one.
