Pirates Recall Miguel Yajure; Place Dillon Peters on 10-Day IL

The Pirates have announced that right-handed pitcher Miguel Yajure has been recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis prior to Friday’s game against the Phillies. In a corresponding move, lefty Dillon Peters has been placed on the 10-day injured list.

Yajure, acquired from the Ynakees in the Jameson Taillon trade, has made two appearances (both starts) with the Pirates this season. He’s posted a 3.86 ERA in 9.1 innings with the big league club. In nine starts with Indianapolis, Yajure was 2-3 with a 3.09 ERA in 43.2 innings of work.

With Sam Howard starting Friday’s game for the Pirates, Yajure is a candidate to follow Howard and pitch, though nothing official has been announced.

Peters’ 2021 season very well could be done as the Pirates have just 10 games remaining. Peters proved to be a nice pickup for Pittsburgh after being acquired from the Angels, going 1-2 with a 3.71 ERA in six starts with the Bucs this season.
