Pirates affiliates picked up three wins on Thursday, with a red-hot day at the plate from shortstop Liover Peguero among the highlights.

Triple-A Indianapolis managed four homers in their 9-8 extra innings win against the Columbus Clippers. Peguero and deadline acquisition Nick Yorke each logged three hits, with Peguero clearing the fences twice and stealing home. Yorke adding a pair of doubles.

Second baseman Nick Gonzales, playing in his second rehab game since landing on the Injured List in late July, slugged a homer of his own. Top prospect Bubba Chandler allowed three runs in five innings, striking out six batters but coming back down to earth after an electric start to his Triple-A tenure.

Free baseball didn’t go so well for the Altoona Curve, who got walked off 7-6 in the eleventh inning against Richmond. 2019 prep pick Jase Bowen made his way on base three times, but other than that it was another ugly outing in a miserable season for the Curve.

Greensboro won 5-4 with an eighth-inning rally. 2022 first round pick Termarr Johnson singled and walked twice, continuing to come around at the plate after a rough start to August. Right-handed pitcher J.P. Massey, who’s struggled with injuries this year, set a season high with eight strikeouts in five innings.

Bradenton defeated the Lakeland Flying Tigers 4-2, riding five strong innings in relief from 22-year-old right-hander Carlos Jimenez, a 2018 international signing from Venezuela.
