Pirates’ affiliates picked up a 6-1 win with the Scottsdale Scorpions on Thursday, with three position player prospects and two pitchers contributing to the victory.

Shortstop Kervin Pichardo went 1-for-3 with a single and a walk, knocking in two runs and scoring another himself. Right fielder Sammy Siani went 2-for-5 with two singles and added a stolen base, while catcher Geovanny Planchart picked up another single in four at-bats.

On the mound, pitching prospects Khristian Curtis and Eddy Yean helped secure the win with steady performances.

Curtis put together one of his best performances of the fall league season, turning in three scoreless innings in relief. The big right-handed struck out three batters and allowed one hit, firing 25 of 42 pitches for strikes.

Yean took the ninth inning and closed the door with three quick outs, retiring the side on nine pitches… two of them strikeouts.

Pirates prospects will get Friday off before the Fall League All-Star game on Saturday: with Termarr Johnson now playing for Team USA, Siani is a good player to watch for an All-Star bid. The Scorpions will be back in action at 3:30pm on Monday, November 11.
