Roansy Contreras, Pittsburgh Pirates

Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher, Roansy Contreras is scheduled to make his first start in Triple-A since getting transferred from Low-A on Aug. 8.

Prior to the transfer, Contreras made one appearance for Low-A Bradenton. He pitched two perfect innings, while striking out two.

The Dominican native was originally optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on July 6, and then eight days later, the Pirates sent him to the Complex League to work on things.

Pirates general manager Ben Cherington mentioned that they wanted Contreras to be in an environment that didn’t present any pressure, and he could just focus on fixing what he needed to fix.

The righty will face the Nashville Sound (Milwaukee Brewers Triple-A team) Wednesday night and will face another struggling pitcher, Eric Lauer.
