Pirates Spring Preview: Marco Gonzales Looks to Build off Best Start
Marco Gonzales will make the start for the Pittsburgh Pirates when they face the New York Yankees in Tampa at 6:35 ET on Wednesday.
Gonzales is coming off of his best start of the Grapefruit League schedule against the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday. In that game, the left-hander allowed one run across five innings pitched and struck out four batters. Baltimore recorded just one hit against him.
It was a much better showing for Gonzales than his first two outings. Combined between his first two starts of the spring, Gonzales allowed six runs (five earned) on 12 hits in five innings pitched.
As for the lineup, Bryan Reynolds hasn’t played right field in the regular season for the Pirates since 2019. He will do so against New York.
