It has been reported by various media outlets that a bus driver transporting the Pittsburgh Pirates from Chicago to Milwaukee was charged with a DUI.

Ronald Funderburke, a 61-year-old man, was stopped Thursday night by an Illinois State escort and was said to have “multiple signs of impairment.”

The troopers were said to have pulled the bus over after Funderburke displayed erratic driving and appeared to have swerved.

Initially, it was reported that state troopers thought a medical emergency occurred, but later found out that Funderburke was impaired.

Funderburke was not associated in any way with the Pirates, the North Carolina native was contracted by the team to transport them from Chicago to Milwaukee.

No further word has come out on the outcome of this matter, but needless to say, the Pirates dodged a bullet by getting to Milwaukee safe and sound.
