Former Pirate Mark Mathias Claimed Off Waivers

PITTSBURGH- Per the Pittsburgh Pirates, INF Mark Mathias has been claimed off waivers from the Seattle Mariners. Mathias was designated for assignment back on June 25.

Mathias was DFAd to make room for the Pirates’ recently acquired RHP Andre Jackson from the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Mathias, during his time with the Pirates, slashed .231/.355/.269 with an OPS of .624. In addition, Mathias drove in four runs and managed only two extra-base hits (two doubles).

Mathias, for his major league career, has a slash line of .249/.323/.402 with an OPS of .725. In addition, Mathias also has six career homers and 28 RBIs in his short career.
