Pirates Roster Moves: Joey Bart Placed on Concussion IL

After he left Tuesday’s win against the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Pittsburgh Pirates placed catcher Joey Bart on the 7-day concussion injured list. To take his placed on the roster, fellow backstop Endy Rodríguez was reinstated off the 10-day injured list.
Bart left in the fifth inning on Tuesday after he was hit with a backswing earlier in the game.
The 28-year-old has played in 44 games (38 at catcher) this season and owns a .240/.347/.308 batting line with five doubles, a triple, one home run and 11 RBI.
Rodríguez was placed on the injured list on Apr. 15 with a right hand laceration. Prior to getting sidelined, Rodríguez played in 15 games and hit .178 with a .504 OPS. Three of hits eight hits were doubles and he drove in a pair of runs.
Defensively, the Pirates used Rodríguez at first base (11 appearances) and catcher (six appearances). He caught two of eight potential base stealers while behind the plate.
Rodríguez is not in the Pirates’ lineup for Wednesday’s series finale against the Diamondbacks at Chase Field. Henry Davis is catching and batting sixth.
Davis replaced Bart in Tuesday’s game and went 2 for 3 with a double and a two-run home run. He helped spark an offensive outburst that erased a six-run deficit and led to a 9-6 win for the Pirates.
