The Pirates return home for a seven-game home stand against the Cardinals and Mets starting Tuesday night against St. Louis. Looking at the standings, the Pirates (40-43) trail the Cardinals (43-40) by three games and are a game and a half behind the Mets (41-41).

Tuesday’s first pitch is set for 6:40 ET and the game will be aired on SportsNet Pittsburgh.

Temperatures in the 80s with sunny skies. Winds ESE at 7-8 mph.

The Pittsburgh Pirates Will Send Out RHP Mitch Keller (9-4, 3.20 ERA)

Keller struggled a bit in his last start against the Reds but got the win after allowing four runs (three earned) in 5.2 innings.

It marked the 47th-straight start in which Keller worked at least five innings, but snapped a string of eight-straight starts of going six-plus innings.

Keller enters Tuesday’s start tied for third in the National League in wins and 11th in ERA.

The right-hander faced the Cardinals in St. Louis on June 13 and allowed four runs in six innings. In 11 career starts against the Cardinals, Keller is 2-2 with a 3.56 ERA.

The St. Louis Cardinals Will Send Out RHP Kyle Gibson (5-3, 3.70 ERA)

In his last start against the Braves, Gibson allowed four runs on four hits with five walks and four strikeouts in four innings pitched.

It was a rare poor start for the veteran right-hander, who had a 2.20 ERA in his last five starts entering his most recent.

Gibson was the losing pitcher against Atlanta, making it the first time since Apr. 13 he took the loss.

In four career starts against the Pirates, Gibson is 2-1 with a 3.65 ERA.
