Pirates Minor League Report: Shalin Polanco Walks it Off

Pirates’ affiliates picked up three wins on Tuesday, capped by Shalin Polanco’s walk-off grand slam for the Bradenton Marauders.

Domingo Germán put together his best performance since joining the Pirates, striking out five batters in a quality start for Triple-A Indianapolis. Matt Gorski homered yet again, Matt Fraizer hit two doubles and Liover Peguero singled four times in Indianapolis’ 4-2 win over the Iowa Cubs.

The Altoona Curve lost 3-2 to the Bowie Bay Sox, managing just three hits and unable to pull out a win in complement of Po-Yu Chen’s quality start.

The Greensboro Grasshoppers shut out the Hudson Valley Renegades 2-0. Patrick Reilly struck out ten batters in six innings, while Hudson Head’s two-run homer served as the difference maker.

The Bradenton Marauders round things out with a 6-5 walk-off win over the Lakeland Flying Tigers. Esmerlyn Valdez homered in the eighth to help send the game to extras, while Polanco’s tenth-inning grand slam secured the win after a near-meltdown in the top of the inning.
