Pirates Minor League Report: Homers for Bowen and Cimillo

Pittsburgh Pirates Prospect Jase Bowen

Pirates’ affiliates managed a pair of wins on Tuesday, with extra base hits from a number of top prospects in the process.



The Altoona Curve rolled to a 6-4 win over the Portland Sea Dogs, with a two-run homer from Jase Bowen serving as the difference maker.

The Greensboro Grasshoppers slugged out an 11-6 win against the Asheville Tourists, with doubles from Termarr Johnson, Charles McAdoo and Jack Brannigan to complement a Nick Cimillo homer.

Single-A Bradenton fell 5-2 to the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels, held to five hits and no extra bases. The Indianapolis Indians, meanwhile, took their off day after playing on Memorial Day to begin the week.

Here’s a look at how the Pirates’ farm teams began a new set of series.

Triple-A Indianapolis (24-25)

Double-A Altoona (15-31)

CF Jase Bowen

  • Game: 2-for-4 with a homer.
  • Season: .213/.276/.300 with 7 doubles and 2 homers in 41 games.

2B Kervin Pichardo

  • Game: 2-for-4 with 2 singles.
  • Season: .229/.289/.336 with 5 doubles and 3 homers in 37 games.

High-A Greensboro (27-19)

DH Nick Cimillo

  • Game: 2-for-4 with a homer and a walk.
  • Season: .319/.415/.609 with 2 doubles and 6 homers in 20 games.

3B Charles McAdoo

  • Game: 2-for-5 with 2 doubles.
  • Season: .311/.385/.530 with 11 doubles, 2 triples and 6 homers in 41 games.

Single-A Bradenton (20-25)

CF Shalin Polanco

  • Game: 2-for-3 with a walk.
  • Season: .161/.228/.303 with 7 doubles and 5 homers in 40 games.

LHP Hunter Furtado

  • Game: 2 IP, 0 ER.
  • Season: 19.1 IP, 6.52 ERA, 16 K’s in 14 appearances.
