Derek Diamond was the lone bright spot amongst Pittsburgh Pirates prospects for the Scottsdale Scorpions in their 5-2 loss to the Surprise Saguaros on Saturday.

The right-hander was given the ball in the fifth inning out of the bullpen and pitched a perfect frame which included a pair of strikeouts.

It’s been a solid showing in the Arizona Fall League for Diamond, who owns a 3.68 through his first four appearances. In 7.1 innings, he’s yielded six hits, walked one and struck out 10 batters.

Geovanny Planchart served as Scottsdale’s catcher and finished 0 for 2 with a walk and a strikeout. Kervin Pichardo manned the hot corner and went hitless across three at-bats.

The Scorpions (5-11) are off on Sunday but will be back in action against the Salt River Rafters (8-8) on Monday night.
