PBN’s 2024 World Series Predictions

The World Series is here.
The New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers will meet on Friday night at Dodger Stadium to kick of the 2024 Fall Classic. It’s a matchup of the No. 1 seed in the American League against the top seed from the National League.
The Yankees bested the Kansas City Royals in four games in the ALDS before defeating the Cleveland Guardians in five games to clinch the American League Pennant. The Dodgers, meanwhile, won the decisive game five against the division-rival San Diego Padres before taking down the New York Mets in six in NLCS.
Here are our predictions for how the World Series will unfold.
John Perrotto
- World Series winner:Â Dodgers in seven games
- MVP: Teoscar Hernández
This is the series Pittsburgh Pirates fans will hate because it matches the team with the second-highest payroll (Yankees) against the team in MLB against the third-highest payroll (Dodgers). However, the star power in this Fall Classic is undeniable with players like Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, Giancarlo Stanton, Gerrit Cole, Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman and Yoshinobu Yamamoto. This should be a great series for those whose fandom reaches beyond Pittsburgh. It’s a real tossup but I like that the Dodgers have home-field advantage and the extra emotional incentive of trying to win to honor beloved franchise icon Fernando Valenzuela’s memory.
Danny Demilio
- World Serie winner:Â Yankees in seven games
- MVP:Â Aaron Judge
This matchup has it all. A battle of the top seeds in their respective leagues and two of the most iconic franchises in the sport. Everything about this series between two evenly-matched teams screams it will go the distance, and I don’t think any baseball fan will have a problem with that. This year’s Fall Classic also features the two likely MVP winners in Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge. It’s been an unsatisfactory playoff showing for Judge so far, but I think the Yankees’ captain breaks out on the game’s biggest stage and leads the Yankees to their first World Series trophy since 2009, just as he led them to the top seed in the American League all season long.
