Pittsburgh Pirates, Endy Rodriguez, Pirates prospects

The Indianapolis Indians have placed a pair of notable Pittsburgh Pirates’ prospects on the 7-day injured list in Endy Rodriguez and Travis Swaggerty.

Rodriguez, who exited Thursday’s game after making an awkward throw to second base, is dealing with a forearm injury, according to manager Derek Shelton. Swaggerty, meanwhile, is dealing with an illness. His IL stint is retroactive to Apr. 20.

Rodriguez is batting .263 with a .789 OPS, three home runs and 10 RBIs through his first 14 games on the year. He is considered to be the Pirates’ number two prospect, according to MLB Pipeline.

Swaggerty posted with a .752 OPS with seven extra-base hits and three steals through 14 games to begin the year.

At this point, it is unclear how much time each player will miss, but Rodriguez will be reevaluated, according to Shelton.
