The Pittsburgh Pirates cleared two 40-man roster spots Thursday by designating left-hander Dillon Peters and right-hander Tyler Beede for assignment.

They also recalled left-hander Eric Stout from Triple-A Indianapolis in advance of their game against the Mets at Citi Field in New York.

Peters had just completed a rehab assignment at Indianapolis. In 22 games, including four starts, with the Pirates this season, the 30-year-old was 5-2 with a 4.58 ERA.

Beede, 29, made five starts and 20 relief appearances for the Pirates after being claimed off waivers from the San Francisco Giants on May 12. He had a 2-5 record and 5.23 ERA.

Stout, 29, pitched in relief 17 times for the Pirates earlier this season and had no record, one save and a 4.34 ERA. With Indianapolis, he was 1-0 with three saves and a 0.68 ERA in 11 games.

The 40-man roster is now at 38.
