PITTSBURGH — Henry Davis wasted no time in recording his first-career hit for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In his first at-bat, Davis ripped a double inside the third base bag to lead of the bottom of the third inning.

Davis turned on a 3-2 sinker from Chicago Cubs left-hander Drew Smyly and registered an exit velocity of 106.2 mph.

Davis was selected from Triple-A by the Pirates prior to Monday’s first pitch.

The University of Louisville product was selected by the Pirates with the first pick in the 2021 MLB Draft and is considered to be the Pirates’ third-best prospect, according to MLB Pipeline.
