Right-handed pitcher Tyler Beede has officially joined the Pirates roster prior to Friday’s game against the Reds. To make room for him, left-hander Cam Alldred was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Beede was claimed off waivers from the Giants on Thursday after San Francisco designated him for assignment last week. The 2014 first-round draft pick posted a 4.66 ERA//5.50 FIP in 9.2 innings with the Giants prior to getting DFA’d. He gives the Bucs another option to cover some length out of the bullpen.

Alldred made his Major League debut in Thursday’s loss to Cincinnati. He tossed a scoreless inning, allowed one hit ans picked up his first career strikeout by punching out Tyler Stephenson.
