A handful of household names from the Pittsburgh Pirates’ farm system led the way in Wednesday’s minor league action.

At Class-A Bradenton, 2022 first-round draft pick Termarr Johnson had his best game to date. On the pitching side of things, 2020 third-rounder Nick Garcia delivered one of his best starts of the year for High-A Greensboro.

Indianapolis Indians (63-60)

OF Cal Mitchell

  • Game: 2 for 5 with a home run, two RBIs and a run
  • Season: .339/.391/.547, 18 doubles, two triples, nine home runs, 49 RBIs, eight steals, 63 games

INF/OF Ji-hwan Bae

  • Game: 2 for 5 with two RBIs, a run and a walk
  • Season: .300/.369/.449, 18 doubles, five triples, eight home runs, 48 RBIs, 22 steals, 91 games

Mitchell and Bae, who are both candidates to be added to the Pirates’ major league roster in September, led the charge for the Indians in their 6-2 win over the Louisville Bats.

Mason Martin collected a pair of doubles and Diego Castillo also recorded two hits. Carter Bins joined Mitchell with a longball in the win.

Altoona Curve (60-61)

SS Liover Peguero

  • Game: 2 for 4 with a double
  • Season: .257/.298/.381, 21 doubles, four triples, eight home runs, 50 RBIs, 23 steals, 108 games

C Endy Rodriguez

  • Game: 1 for 3 with a double and a walk
  • Season: .348/.434/.697, eight doubles, five home runs, 17 RBIs, 17 games

The Curve dropped a game below .500 after their 4-0 shutout loss to the Akron RubberDucks. Peguero doubled as part of a two-hit night. Rodriguez stayed hot with a double, giving him 13 extra-base hits in 17 games since being promoted from Greensboro.

Greensboro Grasshoppers (54-65)

RHP Nick Garcia

  • Game: 6.0 innings, three hits, no runs, two walks, five strikeouts
  • Season: 3-4, 3.91 ERA, 106 innings, 87 hits, 42 walks, 102 strikeouts, 24 games/22 starts

C Abrahan Gutierrez

  • Game: 2 for 3 with a walk and a run
  • Season: .256/.352/.410, 19 doubles, 12 home runs, 55 RBIs, four steals, 101 games

A bullpen collapse wasted Garcia’s excellent outing as the Grasshoppers were crushed 10-3 by the Winston-Salem Dash. Gutierrez led Greensboro with two hits, and Mike Jarvis doubled.

Bradenton Marauders (63-58)

2B Termarr Johnson

  • Game: 3 for 3 with two doubles, an RBI, a run and a walk
  • Season: .313/.333/.348, two doubles, two RBIs, six games

  • Season: 4-1, 2.95 ERA, 42.2 innings, 30 hits, 16 walks, 46 strikeouts, 12 games/seven starts

The Marauders held off a late rally from the Fort Myers Mighty Muscles to hold on for an 8-7 victory. Johnson had his best game as a pro with three hits plus a walk. Solometo continued to look good.

Outfielder Tanner Tredaway drove in three and slugged his first professional homer. Infielder Tsung-Che Cheng picked up a pair of doubles.
