Though the Pittsburgh Pirates lost to the Cubs 4-2 on Tuesday at Wrigley Field in Chicago, there was a fun moment for the Bucs.

Oneil Cruz blasted a towering homer to dead center field in the seventh inning off Keegan Thompson. On the previous pitch, Cruz hit a foul ball that left Wrigley Field.

No, that’s not a joke.

Cruz has struggled since being called up to the major league last month and there have been cringeworthy moments. However, hits like this show that his talent is special.

We discussed Cruz’s progression on Monday during an at-bat on Sunday against Miami Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara. Cruz adjusted, and took Alcantara deep.

Seeing Cruz make adjustments during an at-bat gives hope to the Pirates’ fans base and the coaching staff. If the Pirates are to become contenders eventually, Cruz will have to come to the forefront and be one of their stars.
