Pirates’ Spencer Horwitz Leaves Game With Injury

PITTSBURGH — Pirates first baseman Spencer Horwitz left Wednesday’s game against the Seattle Mariners at PNC Park with left hamstring discomfort.
Horwitz, who drew a walk in his first plate appearance and bounced into a double play his second time up, was pinch-hit for by Esmerlyn Valdez in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The Pirates said Horwitz is being examined and treated by the club’s medical staff, but no further updates have been provided.
Horwitz is hitting .280/.386/.455 with 11 doubles, one triple, 10 home runs and 33 RBI in 74 games this season while serving as the club’s primary first baseman.
