Friday, Nov. 3, the Salt River Rafters squared off against Surprise Saguaros. Pittsburgh Pirates prospects Jase Bowen (RF), Carter Bins (DH), and Jack Brannigan (SS) were in Salt River’s starting lineup.

In addition, LHP Nick Dombkowski and Tyler Samaniego pitched in relief for Salt River.

The Rafters offense was stifled Friday night as they only managed two runs against Surprise. Salt River’s two runs were scored in the top of the second inning making it a 4-2 game at the time.

In addition, Salt River is now 14-14 and sits 3.5 games back of first place.

Bowen

Bowen hasn’t been able to strike for more than one hit in quite some time. Friday night, Bowen smashed a lead-off double in his first at-bat, but couldn’t break through afterwards.

Bowen went 1-4 at the plate with a double and a strikeout.

Bins

In two straight outings, Bins has gone hitless. In four at-bats, Bins struck out twice. In addition, Bins popped out and flied out.

Brannigan

In the top of the second, Brannigan came to the plate with two outs and a runner on third. In the second pitch of the at-bat, Brannigan hit an RBI single to his pull side.

In addition, Brannigan went 1-3 with an RBI and two strikeouts.

Dombkowski

Dombkowski was brought in during the fourth inning after Salt River’s starter struggled through three innings and giving up four runs.

The lefty halted Surprise’s offensive onslaught by nearly having a perfect inning. After a lead-off walk, Dombkowski got Peyton Wilson to ground into a double play.

In addition, Dombkowski got CJ Alexander to groundout to first baseman David McCabe to end the inning.

Samaniego

In the sixth inning, Samaniego came on for Salt River. After a one out single and walk, Samaniego allowed a double steal. Wilson then hit a sac-fly making it a 5-2 game.

In addition, Alexander struck out to end the inning. Samaniego’s final line read 1.0 innings pitched, one hit, one run, one walk, and one strikeout.
