A day after Pittsburgh Pirates 2021 first-round pick Henry Davis began a rehab assignment with the Bradenton Marauders, 2022 first-rounder Termarr Johnson made his Low-A debut with the team.

After playing in nine games with the FCL Pirates, Johnson manned second base and hit sixth for the Bradenton Marauders in his first game. The 18-year-old went 1 for 4.

Also for the Marauders, Anthony Solometo continued to pitch well. Here are some other top performances from Wednesday.

Indianapolis Indians (59-58)

OF Cal Mitchell

  • Game: 2 for 4 with an RBI
  • Season: .330/.384/.530, 17 doubles, one triple, eight home runs, 45 RBIs, seven steals, 58 games

1B Mason Martin

  • Game: 2 for 3
  • Season: .210/.285/.405, 20 doubles, five triples, 15 home runs, 62 RBIs, 12 steals, 107 games

Not much to show for Indianapolis in its 3-1 loss to the Rochester Red Wings. Mitchell stayed hot with his third multi-hit game in the last four contests. He has at least one hit in 11 of his last 12 games.

Martin collected a pair of hits, and Diego Castillo doubled and scored the Indians’ lone run

Altoona Curve (58-57)

3B Jared Triolo

  • Game: 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple, an RBI and two runs
  • Season: .284/.377/.421, 19 doubles, five triples, nine home runs, 38 RBIs, 23 steals, 108 games

OF Fabricio Macias

  • Game: 1 for 4 with a home run, three RBIs and a run
  • Season: .265/.285/.407, seven doubles, three home runs, 21 RBIs, five steals, 32 games

Triolo continued his strong season, finishing a double shy of the cycle. Triolo has been especially hot during August, as the 24-year-old has posted a .352/.413/.704 slash with 13 extra-base hits.

Macias hit a three-run homer for the Curve, who fell 7-5 to the Bowie BaySox. Austin Roberts tossed two scoreless innings of relief with four strikeouts.

Greensboro Grasshoppers (49-63)

C Abrahan Gutierrez

  • Game: 1 for 4 with a home run, three RBIs and a run
  • Season: .258/.355/.421, 18 doubles, 12 home runs, 53 RBIs, four steals, 94 games

RHP Justin Meis

  • Game: 5.0 innings, two hits, two runs, four walks, nine strikeouts
  • Season: 2-4, 5.30 ERA, 54.1 innings. 50 hits, 27 walks, 58 strikeouts, 13 games/13 starts

Gutierrez’s first-inning three-run shot helped to propel the Grasshoppers to a 5-3 victory over the Greenville Drive. Pittsburgh native Justin Meis picked up nine strikeouts in his five innings.

Sammy Siani had two hits including a double, and fellow outfielder Hudson Head tripled and drew a walk in the win.

Bradenton Marauders (60-55)

LHP Anthony Solometo

  • Game: 4.0 innings, one hit, one run, two walks, six strikeouts
  • Season: 4-1, 3.05 ERA, 38.1 innings. 28 hits, 13 walks, 41 strikeouts, 11 games/six starts

OF Tres Gonzalez

  • Game: 2 for 5 with two RBIs and a run
  • Season: .333/.395/.385, one triple, five RBIs, two steals, 11 games

Even though Solometo delivered another quality performance, Bradenton fell to the Dunedin Blue Jays 11-6. Gonzalez drove in a pair and scored a run in the loss to lead the offense.

For the second straight game, outfielder Sergio Campana hit a home run for the Marauders.
