Pirates Prospect Watch: Pipeline Names Endy Rodriguez To Prospect Team Of The Year
MLB Pipeline unveiled their 2022 Prospect Team Of The Year and Pittsburgh Pirates catching prospect Endy Rodriguez was named a first-team selection.
Rodriguez emerged as one of the Pirates’ best prospects with a stellar season between three levels.
The 22-year-old began the season with High-A Greensboro, where he appeared in 88 games. With the Grasshoppers, Rodriguez hit .302 with a .936 OPS, 23 doubles, 16 home runs and 55 RBIs.
Rodriguez earned a midseason promotion to Double-A Altoona. The stint in Altoona lasted just 31 games as Rodriguez slashed an impressive .356/.442/.678 to go with eight homers and 32 runs driven in.
Rodriguez ended the season in Triple-A where he hit .455 in six games with Indianapolis.
While he had an impressive season at the plate, Rodriguez also improved his overall defense behind the dish with a solid season with the glove.
In addition to his natural position of catcher, Rodriguez has proven to be a versatile player after appearing at first base, second base and in left field this season.
Pipeline added Rodriguez to their top 100 list, where he currently ranks as the 97th-best prospect in baseball and No. 6 on the Pirates’ top 30.
The Bucs acquired Rodriguez from the Mets in the three-team trade that sent pitcher Joe Musgrove to the Padres prior to the 2021 season.
