Heartwarming Moments Aplenty at PNC Park Over Weekend

How can you not be romantic about baseball?
Those were the famous words uttered by Brad Pitt, who portrayed Oakland Athletics general manager Billy Beane in the movie “Moneyball.”
There are always moments that make you smile during a baseball game, and there were several lifetime memories made at PNC Park this weekend in the series between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Tampa Bay Rays.
Like this moment involving Jake Mangum on Sunday afternoon. The Pirates left fielder saw a young fan wearing his jersey in the second level of the left field bleachers. Mangum tossed the ball her brother who was wearing a glove. He made a nice catch and handed the ball to his little sister donning a No. 28 jersey.
Or a moment before the game started. On Sundays, before the Pirates take the field, kids take each position and wait for the player to greet them with a few words, an autograph and a a high five.
This past Sunday, a young man was especially excited to receive an autographed ball from Pirates center fielder Oneil Cruz. He could not contain that excitement.
Or on Saturday, when a well-raised young man gave a ball thrown into the stands to a kid wearing a stylish bowtie sitting in the row in front of him, presumably with his grandmother.
The great Sarah Langs on Twitter/X routinely says “Baseball is the best,” (like in the video of Cruz) when sharing posts on her page. Moments like this prove she is right.
