Pittsburgh Pirates-Lonnie White

A baseball source down in Florida has confirmed that the Pittsburgh Pirates are calling up Lonnie White Jr. to Low-A Bradenton from the Florida Complex League.

White Jr has had a rough time adjusting to strictly baseball with some injuries since getting drafted by the Pirates in the second round back in 2021.

White Jr has had a few 60-day IL stints with some nagging injuries, and the Pirates finally sent him on a rehab assignment to the Florida Complex League back on June 5.

The Las Vegas native has had 63 at-bats in the FCL in 2023 and is slashing .317/.434/.444 with an OPS of .878. In addition, White Jr has one homer, five doubles, and ten RBIs.

It will be interesting to see if White Jr can maintain a healthy season for the rest of the year. The former two-sport athlete has a lot of athleticism, and some pop in that 6 foot 3 frame.
