Pirates Hire Daniel Vogelbach for Hitting Role

There will be a familiar face in an unfamiliar role at spring training for the Pittsburgh Pirates at spring training this year.



Daniel Vogelbach has been hired by the organization as a special assistant to the hitting department.

Vogelbach, a nine-year major-league veteran, spent the first half of the 2022 season with Pittsburgh before he was traded to the New York Mets are the trade deadline for Colin Holderman. While with the Pirates, he slashed .228/.338/.430 with 10 doubles, 12 home runs and 34 RBIs in 75 games. He also recorded the only triple of his career while with the Pirates.

The 32-year-old also played for the Seattle Mariners, Milwaukee Brewers and Toronto Blue Jays during his career. He was an All-Star with Seattle in 2019.

For his career, Vogelbach had a .219/.340/.405 batting line with 63 doubles, 81 home runs and 246 RBIs and totaled 602 games.

He was originally a second round pick of the Chicago Cubs in the 2011 draft.
