Pittsburgh Pirates, Henry Davis

The Pittsburgh Pirates have reinstated outfielder/catcher Henry Davis from the 10-day injured list prior to Friday’s game against the New York Yankees.

Davis, who had been sidelined with a right hand strain, had been on a rehab assignment with the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians.

In four rehab games, Davis went 8 for 13 (.615) and had multiple hits in three of those contests. The 23-year-old homered once and drove in a pair of runs.

With the Pirates this season, Davis has played in 51 games, primarily as a right fielder. In those 51 games, the 2021 first-overall pick slashed .213/.306/.339 with eight doubles, five home runs, 18 RBIs and three stolen bases.

To make room for Davis on the Pirates’ active roster, infielder Vinny Capra was optioned down to Triple-A Indy.

Capra appeared in nine games with Pittsburgh on the year and went 3 for 18 (.167) with a double and his first-career RBI.
