The Pittsburgh Pirates have announced that they have traded for RHP Andre Jackson from the Los Angeles Dodgers for cash considerations.

Jackson has been optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis and will report there.

In order to make room for Jackson on the 40-man, the Pirates have also announced that INF Mark Mathias has been DFAd.

Jackson appeared in seven games with the Dodgers this season, going 0-0 with two saves, a 6.62 ERA, and 16 strikeouts in 17.2 innings pitched.

Jackson was designated for assignment on June 20. Since making his big league debut on August 16, 2021, against the Pirates, the right-hander has gone 0-1 with four saves, a 4.15 ERA, 39 innings pitched, and 35 strikeouts in 14 relief appearances in the big leagues.

The 27-year-old Jackson has spent the majority of the 2023 season with Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he went 1-1 with a 5.86 ERA, 27.2 innings pitched, and 31 strikeouts.
