Pirates Transactions: Ponce Recalled, Evans Optioned to Triple-A

Published

on

The Pirates have announced that they have recalled pitcher Cody Ponce from Triple-A Indianapolis, and the corresponding move is optioning Phillip Evans to the Triple-A club. Ponce for the Pirates has pitched in 22.2 innings, has given up 37 hits, 21 earned runs, and opponents are hitting .370 against Ponce.

Down the final stretch of the season, the Pirates will need all hands on deck and will need arms like Ponce ready and willing to pitch more than an inning or two. Arms are tired, and arms with rest will be called upon to fill in for the meantime.
