The Pittsburgh Pirates have traded catcher Tyler Heineman to the Toronto Blue Jays for infielder Vinny Capra in a minor-league deal.

The Pirates designated Heineman for assignment earlier in the week. He had been playing at Triple-A Indianapolis.

Capra was assigned to Indianapolis.

Heineman, 31, appeared in three games for the Pirates this season and went 1 for 9 with a stolen base. In six games at Indy, he hit .333 with one home run and six RBIs.

Capra, 26, was hitting .167 with five RBIs in 17 games for Triple-A Buffalo. He made his major-league debut with the Blue Jays last season, appearing in eight games and going 1 for 5.

The Blue Jays selected Capra in the 20th round of the 2018 amateur draft from the University of Richmond.
