Pirates Trade Target Jazz Chisholm Jr. Dealt to Yankees; Where Do Bucs Look Next?

The Pittsburgh Pirates had talks with the Miami Marlins about acquiring outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr., but the 26-year-old is headed elsewhere.
According to multiple reports, the New York Yankees are acquiring Chisholm from the Marlins in exchange for three prospects.
Chisholm has played in 101 games this season for the Marlins, primarily as a center fielder. He’s slashed .249/.323/.407 with 14 doubles, three triples, 13 home runs, 50 RBIs and 22 stolen bases. In 403 career big-league games, Chisholm carries a .246/.309/.440 batting line with 66 homers, 205 runs driven in and 81 steals.
In return for Chisholm, the Marlins are acquiring catcher Agustin Ramirez (No. 20 on MLB Pipeline’s New York’s top 30). Though Pipeline has him as the Yankees’ 20th-best prospect, Baseball America ranks Ramirez as the team’s No. 3 prospect.
Along with Ramirez, Miami is acquiring infielder Jared Serna (No. 19 on Pipeline) and infielder/outfielder Abrahan Ramirez.
In addition to Chisholm, the Pirates have been linked to a handful of other players in recent days. Marlins teammate Bryan De La Cruz is one player the Pirates have scouted. De La Cruz leads the Marlins with 18 home runs but carries a lackluster .243/.287/.417 slash through 103 games.
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward and Tampa Bay Rays first baseman Yandy Diáz have reportedly drawn interest from the Pirates. Ward has hit .226 with a .705 OPS and 15 homers this season. Diáz has slashed .272/.328/.394 with most of his success coming against left-handed pitching.
There are a handful of other potential trade targets for the Pirates to help bolster the outfield. Among the possible names include — Jesse Winker and Lane Thomas (Nationals), Cedric Mullins (Orioles), Tommy Pham (White Sox), Michael Conforto (Giants), Kevin Pillar (Angels) and others.
