The Pittsburgh Pirates traded right-handed pitcher Hunter Stratton to the Atlanta Braves in exchange for outfield prospect Titus Dumitru and cash considerations.

Stratton, who was designated for assignment by the Pirates on Thursday, made three appearances out of the bullpen this season and allowed seven runs in 2.2 innings. Stratton made 36 relief appearances for Pittsburgh in 2024 and went 2-1 with a 3.58 ERA before rupturing his patellar tendon in late August, which ended his season.

The 28-year-old totaled 47 appearances with the Pirates from 2023-25 and went 2-1 with a 4.30 ERA and one save.

The Braves optioned Stratton to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Dumitru, 22, was drafted by the Braves in the 16th round of the 2024 draft out of New Mexico State University.

In 64 games with High-A Rome this season, the native of Portland, Oregon, hit .231 with a .628 OPS, nine doubles, two triples, three home runs, 36 RBI and 13 stolen bases. He hit .217 with a .661 OPS in 27 games with Single-A Augusta last season to begin his professional career.

Defensively, Dumitru has played 60 games in left field, 12 games in right and eight games in center in his minor league career.

Dumitru has been assigned to High-A Greensboro.
