Pittsburgh Pirates, Drew Maggi

The Pittsburgh Pirates have selected the contract of Drew Maggi from Double-A Altoona and have placed outfielder Bryan Reynolds on the bereavement list.

In addition, first baseman Ji Man Choi has been transferred to the 60-day IL.

For the 33-year-old Maggi, his first game action will mark his major league debut, creating a cool story. The infielder is currently in his 13th year of professional baseball.

Through eight games with Altoona so far this season, Maggi is hitting .194 with a .468 OPS, one double, three RBIs and a stolen base.

Maggi had a strong spring training with the Pirates this year. He hit .344 with a 1.105 OPS and three home runs during the spring slate.

Choi is dealing with an Achilles injury and will now be sidelined for the foreseeable future while Reynolds will be out for the next couple days.
