Pirates Rout Marlins, Extend Streak to Four; Everyone Contributes in the Win

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Pirates received contributions from up and down the roster in their 10-3 win over the Miami Marlins at PNC Park on Monday night to extend their season-high win streak to four.
How We Got There
Otto Lopez put the Marlins (24-40) ahead with a solo home run off Mike Burrows in the top of the second inning.
The Pirates (27-40) struck for four runs in the bottom of the third. Andrew McCutchen reached on an infield single with the bases loaded to tie the game and Bryan Reynolds followed with a bases-clearing triple to right-center.Â
Jesus Sánchez brought the Marlins within two with a sacrifice fly to left field in the fifth. The RBI knocked Burrows out of the game after 4.2 innings.Â
Adam Frazier recorded an RBI single in the sixth inning to give the Pirates three-straight hits off Janson Junk. Ke’Bryan Hayes followed with a bunt hit, and a pair of Marlins errors allowed two runs to score and advanced Hayes to third base. Brett Sullivan brought home Hayes with a sacrifice fly to center to put the Pirates ahead 8-2.Â
Sullivan tacked on another run with an RBI single in the seventh, his first hit as a Pirate.Â
Spencer Horwitz gave Pittsburgh double digits by plating McCutchen from third on a ground out to first base.
Caleb Ferguson (2-0) got the win for the Pirates. Eury (0-1) Perez took the loss for the Marlins.

Star of the Game
The balanced attack from the Pirates’ offense. All nine players in the Pirates’ starting lineup reached base safely. Eight scored runs, the only one who didn’t score a run was Bryan Reynolds, who had two hits and drove in three runs.Â
