Pirates Reinstate Anthony Alford; Option Hoy Park to Triple-A

The Pirates announced that they have reinstated outfielder Anthony Alford off the 10-day injured list and optioned utility player Hoy Park to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Alford has been working his way back from a wrist injury suffered in spring training. In five games on a rehab assignment between Bradenton and Indianapolis, Alford went 5 for 15 with three homers, a stolen base and three walks.

In 54 games with the Pirates between 202-21, Alford has hit .234 with a .738 OPS, six home runs and five steals. Strikeouts have limited Alford offensively, but he only struck out twice on his rehab assignment. He figures to get playing time in corner outfield spots now that he’s healthy.

The Bucs were fairly thin with their outfield mix with Bryan Reynolds, Ben Gamel and Jake Marisnick the only true outfielders on the 28-man roster.

Park went 3 for 14 with a pair of runs driven in in limited action for the Pirates so far this season. He recorded a double in Thursday’s win over the Cubs.
