Pirates Prospects: Eight Players Set For Triple-A Promotion

There has been a lot of moving and shaking in the Pirates system during the ’21 season and there are set to be a lot more in the coming days. With the minor league regular season coming to an end, general manager Ben Cherington mentioned on his radio show last week that there would be many players from the Double-A club called up to Triple-A Indianapolis to participate in the playoffs. 

Sunday evening, several reports indicated that a total of eight players from Altoona are set to get called up to Indianapolis and partake in the 10-game playoff system. Below is the list of players set to ship off for Indianapolis.

Mason Martin (1B): 22 HR, 29 2B, 75 RBI, .318 OBP, .481 SLG

Roansy Contreras (P): 12-5, 2.65 ERA, 132 IP, 113 K

Cal Mitchell (OF): 12 HR, 61 RBI, 330 OBP, .760 OPS

Canaan Smith-Njigba (OF): 6 HR, 40 RBI, 13 SB, .274 AVG, .805 OPS

Oneil  Cruz (SS/OF): 12 HR, 40 RBI, 18 SB, .292 AVG, .882 OPS

Rodolfo Castro (INF): 5 HR in 86 AB

Osvaldo Bido (P): 4-8, 5.09 ERA. 93.2 IP, 91 K

Yerry De Los Santos (P) 3-2, 2.04 ERA, 17.2 IP. 19 K
