Pirates Prospect Watch: Offense Booms On Rainy Day

Published

Pittsburgh Pirates-Tyler Samaniego

Each of the Pirates’ minor league affiliates saw their Thursday games impacted by inclement weather as storms swept the east coast. The Indianapolis Indians and Altoona Curve saw their games postponed, with the makeup games both set for the first leg of doubleheaders on Saturday, April 13.

The Greensboro Grasshoppers managed to get through four innings and change before rain forced a suspension, taking a 9-0 lead over the Winston-Salem Dash in the process. Once again, Lonnie White Jr. played a massive role in the Grasshoppers’ offensive explosion, as the 21 year old outfielder now has homers in three consecutive games. Bradenton made it through seven innings, long enough to call the game as they fell 13-5 to the Lakeland Flying Tigers.
