Pirates Prospect Watch: Connor Scott Drives in Six Runs

It hasn’t been the best of starts for Pittsburgh Pirates prospect Connor Scott this season with Double-A Altoona.



While things may have gotten off on the wrong foot, the outfield prospect had a big night at the plate on Sunday. Scott completed the two hardest legs of the cycle with a triple and his first homer of the season.

In addition to Scott, here are the Pirates’ prospects with big games from Sunday’s action.

Indianapolis (23-27)

3B Vinny Capra

  • Game stats: 1 for 1, one run, two walks, one steal
  • Season stats: .244/.365/.293, two doubles, nine RBIs, two steals, 14 games

SS Jared Triolo

  • Game stats: 1 for 3, one walk
  • Season stats: .250/.400/.327, four doubles, seven RBIs, one steal, 15 games

Capra and Triolo were the only Pirates’ prospects on base multiple times as the Indianapolis Indians were defeated 5-4 by the Columbus Clippers on Sunday.

Altoona (22-21)

LF Connor Scott

  • Game stats: 2 for 4, one home run, one triple, six RBIs, one run
  • Season stats: .181/.237/.305, four doubles, three triples, one home run, 19 RBIs, three steals, 29 games

RHP Sean Sullivan

  • Game stats: 4.0 innings, one hit, one run, one walk, five strikeouts
  • Season stats: 1-0, 2.56 ERA, 11er/38.2ip, 29 hits, 13 walks, 34 strikeouts, eight appearances/eight starts

Scott’s big games was aided by another solid start from Sullivan as the Curve defeated the Hartford Yard Goats 8-2.

Pirates prospect Andres Alvarez had two more hits while Braeden Ogle threw two innings of scoreless relief to seal the win.

Greensboro (23-20)

Bradenton (24-21)

LHP Dominic Perachi

  • Game stats: 6.0 innings, five hits, one run, one walk, three strikeouts
  • Season stats: 1-0, 3.82 ERA, 13er/30.2ip, 32 hits, 15 walks, 32 strikeouts, eight appearances/six starts

DH Shalin Polanco

  • Game stats: 1 for 3, one home run, one RBI, one run, one walk, one steal
  • Season stats: .211/.313/.398, six doubles, six home runs, 20 RBIs, six steals, 34 games

Despite six sparkling innings from Perachi and Polanco’s sixth homer of the year, the Marauders fell 7-1 to the Jupiter Hammerheads.

Pirates prospect Enmanuel Terrero finished the game 2 for 3 with a walk. Termarr Johnson was the only other player for Bradenton to record a hit.
