Pirates Prospects, Greensboro grasshoppers

It was another full slate for Pittsburgh Pirates’ prospects as all four minor league affiliates were in action on Thursday night. And what a night it was for the High-A Greensboro Grasshoppers.

Aided by a career-night from Ernny Ordonez, the Grasshopper’s offense exploded for 15 runs on 15 hits on the evening.

Ordonez was without doubt the standout from Thursday’s action, but he certainly wasn’t alone amongst Pirates’ prospects. Here’s who joined him.

Indianapolis (25-28)

  • Game stats: 1 for 2, one double, two walks
  • Season stats: .262/.373/.381, six doubles, three home runs, 13 RBIs, two steals, 36 games

Triolo and Vilade each had a hand at the plate, but Indianapolis was defeated 4-1 by the Toledo Mudhens.

Pirates prospects Nick Gonzales and Endy Rodriguez were each on base twice with the former being responsible for the Indians’ lone run.

Altoona (24-22)

3B Claudio Finol

Finol and Peguero combined to reach base seven times as Altoona edged out the Binghamton Rumble Ponies 9-8.

Outfielders Connor Scott and Lol0 Sanchez both had two hits. Pirates prospect Matt Fraizer had an interesting stat line, going 1 for 6 with a single but drove in five runs for the Curve.

Greensboro (25-21)

3b Ernny Ordonez

Ordonez and Gutierrez’s monster games helped lead Greensboro to their 15-6 win over the Winston-Salem Dash.

Pirates prospect Brendan Dixon hit his second long ball of the season while Tsung-Che Cheng and Jase Bowen had two hits apiece.

Bradenton (25-23)

INF Jesus Castillo

Termarr Johnson doubled, walked three times, scored a run and stole a base in the win. Pirates prospect Shalin Polanco singled twice and drove in a pair.
