Pirates Postgame: Oneil Cruz Walks It Off, Literally

Published

on

In the last series of 2022, Oneil Cruz wins the game on a bases loaded 4-pitch walk. It might not have been the most intriguing way many wanted to see Cruz win it by, but with Jo Jo Romero walking the three straight batters before him it was not surprising.

Mitch Keller capped off his solid season by giving up just 2 earned runs in 5 innings pitched. He did, unfortunately, give up #703 to Albert Pujols but today’s game pretty much showed why he has become such a good pitcher lately with all the ways he can now get outs.

There wasn’t much offense outside of a couple doubles by Bryan Reynolds and Jason Delay as well as another HR in PNC Park for Jack Suwinski. Something of note today would be Ke’Bryan Hayes getting his team leading 20th stolen base.
