Pirates Postgame: Offense Comes Alive As Chavis Walks It Off

Published

on

What can words do? Well, since Dennis Eckerlsey called out the Pirates team as being a hodgepodge of nothingness the offense has scored 16 runs in their last three games. Tonight, they not only had 5 runs, but they contributed towards it with 13 total hits.

All but one starter had at least one hit, while Kevin Newman, Greg Allen, Bligh Madris, and Ben Gamel each enjoyed a multi-hit game. Though he had a terrible base running blunder that could’ve cost the lead, Ben Gamel redeemed himself at the plate with 3 total hits as well as a HBP in the 9th. It was Kevin Newman’s second hit that gave the Pirates the lead in the 9th and then Michael Chavis’ clutch hit vs. a lefty that ultimately won the game.

Bryse Wilson did enough to keep the team in the game as he gave up 3 earned runs on 5 hits and 2 home runs. What am I making out of Bryse Wilson so far? Well you will hear just how he ultimately is opening my eyes ever so slightly.
