Pirates Postgame: Not A Fun Day If You Are A Pirates Pitcher

Published

on

After Mitch Keller shut down the Mets last night and the offense poured it on, today turned out to be the complete opposite. With a double-header scheduled, the Pirates essentially started each game with relievers which seemed pretty head scratching.

Jim and DiNardo share their frustration with the pitching performances which leads to the fact that this is the quality of pitching the Pirates decided to put together for this season. With each day, the decisions to add many of these pitchers whom were already mostly designated by another team seem to be more puzzling.

If there is any bright spot, it’s that Oneil Cruz did go 3-for-8 on the day and increased his stat line while leading off in the last 10 games to .302/.333/.651. He earned the start of the second game to be challenged with facing Jacob deGrom and hit a single off him for the very first pitch. All in all, today just was not an inspiring performance for many of the Bucco’s.
