Pirates Postgame: Judge And Stanton Power Their Way To A 9th Inning Comeback Victory

Published

What seems to sum up the Pirates season is the sense of excitement and seeing the future here and producing for it to all be taken away as the Pirates found another way to lose the game.

Luis Ortiz was handed his second major league start and it was every bit as impressive as his first. However, this time doing it at Yankee Stadium versus an offense like the Yankees left Tyler feeling even more optimistic. Tyler also breaks down a little more of what he is seeing from Ortiz and if he should be given an opportunity to make this rotation next season.

Big days at the plate from Bryan Reynolds, Rodolfo Castro, Kevin Newman, Jason Delay, and yes even Oneil Cruz. We probably discussed Jason Delay for much longer than Jason Delay needs to be discussed here, but there were a lot of positives from today’s game especially on the offensive side.

It is just unfortunate that this bullpen is very much below average to begin with and has been completely overworked. Duane Underwood Jr. and Wil Crowe have looked very bad recently and there likely is a correlation to their season’s usage in all of it.
