Pirates Postgame: Bucco’s Rally But Fall 1-Run Short

Published

on

Tonight featured an exciting bottom of the 9th inning. Down by 6-runs, the Pirates strung together some clutch hits to make it a 1-run game but ultimately fell short on a Ke’Bryan Hayes fly to right.

We have been cautiously encouraged by Zach Thompson this year with his refined pitch mix, but with back to back poor starts it seems as if the Trevor Williams comp we gave a few weeks back is coming closer to fruition. Tonight he gave 7-earned on 11 very hard hits.

The offense was silent for most of the game, except for Cal Mitchell who got the scoring started with a big home run. We not only talk his big game, but the recent success Kevin Newman has been having since his return from the IL and what the possibility of a trade for him is like. We also discuss the issues of Chris Stratton and if it makes sense to trade him this year as well.
