Pirates Postgame: Bryse Wilson Pitches Well As Bednar Shuts It Down

Published

on

After a game where one reliever threw 56 pitches, Bryse Wilson knew he was going to have to give innings today whether they be good innings or bad. Luckily, they were good. With increased velocity, Wilson went 6 strong innings to earn his first win of the year. Is this the makings of something new for Wilson?

A shaky David Bednar came into the 9th to close it out as he walked the first batter on four straight pitches. However, Bednar settled nicely and looked more like his old self as he retired the next three batters.

Offensively, this was a solid team performance where everyone chipped in. Oneil Cruz and Michael Chavis each went deep. Outside of the 112 mph laser Cruz put into the stands, there were a few other things that were almost just as impressive we tell you about. Diego Castillo also continues to make his case to keep him on the MLB roster.
