Pirates Postgame: Brubaker Looks Excellent, And Then Gives Up 6 In Loss

Published

on

Tonight was one to those games where the boxscore doesn’t tell the whole story. JT Brubaker lasted 6.1 innings and gave up 6 earned, but everything to the 5th inning was excellent. His slider was extremely effective and he was shutting down a top lineup in the Braves. However, in the 5th inning he gave up 6 straight hits while 5 of them were hit with an exit velocity over 100mph. At the end of the day, it ends up being a start JT wishes went differently.

As the story goes, the offense was once again anemic. Michael Chavis’ solo shot off Max Fried was the only run as well as a third of the Pirates total hits. Fried shut down this offense quickly and efficiently tonight. Which, again, leads to ask where players like Travis Swaggerty are?
